I have been so verbose lately, I thought that you might enjoy just looking at pictures this weekend. These are my favorite collectibles - 19th century aesthetic brown transferware.
My thoughts and prayers go out to those caught in hurricane Ike's wrath. Be safe!
Oh, I wish you'd been a bit wordier with this post. I never heard of transferware before. Some history would have been nice. Maybe a second post is in order.
Very pretty...I don't know much about transferware..but I've heard BJ over at sweet nothings talk about hers. It's really beautiful and I love how you have it displayed!
Brown transferware is just beautiful. You have some lovely pieces. I am crazy about that black cabinet with the red background...I have a vintage hutch that I painted black and I am thinking of removing the doors and painting the back red. Could you tell me the color you used? Many thanks, bj
It's neat to see someone who also has brown and white transferware, though I don't have any in the aesthetic patterns. Your pieces have very striking and interesting patterns.
Smiling Sal, Sweet Nothings post today has an explanation of transferware: http://sweetnothingsbj.blogspot.com/2008/09/blue-monday-full-of-wonderfulness.html Carrie
