SUMMERTIME BREAKFAST!

Thanks to Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for once again hosting Tablescape Thursday. To check out my favorite Thursday party, be sure to go by Susan's blog to find a list of today's Tablescape Thursday's participants.

Finally, my garden flowers are starting to blossom, and I have materials for a centerpiece for a summertime breakfast setting.

Nothing fancy - just a plaid tablecloth and my everyday Blue Willow dishes.

My mother always had her Royal Copley roosters sitting around in her kitchen to remind herself that she didn't ever want the real thing in her yard! She did not have fond memories of taking care of live chickens when she was young.

For several Christmases and birthdays in the 1960s, my mother gave me the Fostoria red dishes and glassware. The white bread plate is from my set of Mikasa Italian Countryside dishes.

Thanks for stopping by,

Sally

  1. Hello Sally! I think those napkin rings are the ones you found when we had our fun outing together! Your table is so sweet and I love your wonderful little arrangement of flowers! I went to make a small bouquet of flowers for a hospice patient I was going to visit and so wish that I had roses - I went to the side of the house and there is this lone little bush that is right at the foundation of the house that had several sweet little roses just for the bouquet!! God is good!

  3. Love your red dishes and glassware! I don't suppose I would have very fond memories of taking care of chickens either! ;) I love that your mother kept roosters around the kitchen to remind her of that. :)

  5. C*U*T*E, Sally! I love every element of this set-up, right down to the plaid tablecloth! I keep forgetting to mention that your header is pretty, too. Has it been a scorcher there? WE are finally, finally out of our heatwave. At least our dewpoint is under 60! ~ Robyn

  16. I love the colors and your plates. And I love that your mom wanted fake roosters instead of the real thing. I don't blame her. I would too.

  20. Hon, you captured my heart as soon as I saw the red and blue. My favorite colors! I would love to have some of that Fostoria! I must look on eBay. I remember chickens from my childhood also. The rooster always chased you to the gate and pecked at your legs! This is very sweet and well arranged.
