MONSOON AUGUST

As I mentioned in my last post, August is monsoon season in Colorado.  Don't ask me why ---- Colorado is usually dry and arid in the summer, but every August the monsoons arrive for a short visit.  We have had rain every day for a week, and it continues.  We are currently under a flash flood warning as I'm writing this.
A break in the rain, so I went outside to take a few photos ---- mud and crud everywhere!
Large rain drops are beginning to fall again.
One last photo of a rose bud before I run back inside.
The other day, the sun came out long enough for me to take the quilt I just finished out for its official portrait.
I never mind an opportunity to stay in out of the wet weather.  It gives me an opportunity to do what I like best ---- quilting.
This traditional block is called Cactus Rose, and is not dependent on Colorado's fickle weather!

HOT AND DRY JULY

It is July, and it is hot and dry in Colorado.  Our yard is suffering and not at its best.
Cooler and a little more pleasant on the porch.
But August and September will be here before we know it.  The roses will have their second burst of blooms and our monsoon season will arrive.

Till then, stay cool!
