Once again it is Tablescape Tuesday hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch. Check out her blog for a list of delicious tablescapes! It is November and time for a simple harvest soup supper for just the two of us.
These are my everyday Blue Willow dishes which I purchased at the grocery store several years ago. You know - get a place setting for $1 with the purchase of a certain amount of groceries! Plus, you could purchase serving pieces at a reduced rate. Being a dish lover, I couldn't pass that up!! I'm so glad I bought them - they have been wonderful - so durable and never chip or break. They are marked "Churchill, made in England".
I've paired them with my 1960s red Fostoria in the Argus pattern.
The table topper is a small quilt I made in 1997 to illustrate a magazine article. The quilt is called "Migration". Can you see those birds migrating south for the winter?
Now, back to the harvest soup supper. I'm so fortunate to have Bob who loves to garden in the summer and provides bags of fresh vegetables in the freezer for me to make soup throughout the winter.

So, a handful of this and a handful of that with some cubed meat all thrown into the crock-pot; we have harvest soup. Served with bread sticks from our favorite bakery, we have a warm and fulfilling supper.

Beautiful blue, I say! That looks like a yummy meal, too.
Sally...so many things to love! Love you little quilt...the Blue Willow china, the red glasses and dessert plates! Truck is adorable. I think I am most jealous of the garden fresh veggies! LOL Not enough sun in my back yard to garden and I don't think my neighbors would appreciate a garden where my front lawn is! :-) Thanks for posting this wonderful table! Susan
I've already finished supper, but you made me hungry again. Soup is almost a food group to me, and yours looks scrumptious.
Love the quilt on that beautiful wood table, and I'm guessing that truck is a collectible.
The quilt is the perfect touch! Very cute! My mother has a a few of the blue and white dishes and I have always loved them-they are just so classic!
I have the Johnson Bros. blue willow...why do so many different manufacturers make this pattern? Anyway, it looks lovely! And your supper looks great!
Suzanne

Tables looks so pretty and I am so jealous of your fresh grown vegetables..when I was growning up mama had a huge chest freezer and we filled it to the brim every year with all the stuff from the garden....I thought we were the most blessed people in the world to have all that 'treasure' in the freezer for winter...mama said we were just poor country folks! lol lol oh girl guess what I cooked tonight..we had ate a late lunch so I wasn't really hungry but wanted something to snack on..now usually that would be chocolate! lol But tonight I wanted something different....so I thought I'd fry me up a small batch of fried green tomatoes and dip them in ranch dressing...well I fry my little tomatoes and then I look at the batter I have left in the bowl(cornmeal, flour & buttermilk)so I throw an egg in it and add a can of drained kernel corn and mix it up and drop it in small dollops in the pan and make little corn fritter pancakes....oh my word...beam me
up Jesus...they were fantastic! lol lol I didn't eat the fried green tomatoes! lol lol
Hi Sally! Thanks for popping in to see me. Do you have any more of that soup left over? I'm getting hungry!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I love the quilt on the table. I do that all the time myself! Very pretty table. MY MIL has the same blue dishes (she got them at a grocery store, too) and I have always loved them.
I love the blues in your tablescape and that quilt is so pretty. Love it!
