VINTAGE THINGIES THURSDAY

I have a small collection of vintage damask linens that I would like to share today. Over the years, I have picked these up at yard sales, thrift stores, and antique malls. I always look for different, colorful borders.

These hand towels have morning glory borders in red. The red color is elusive, unless I would be willing to pay a higher price at the more upscale antique venues.

This is one of my favorite hand towel patterns of sailing ships in blue.

Shamrocks!!

This tablecloth has this pretty blue floral border on only two sides.

A tablecloth with a rose design in yellow.

The border is on all four sides; and as is often the case, the hem has been machine hem-stitched.

I have quite a few napkin sets in blue with different patterns. Love the bird design!

    Those are really beautiful. I used to have a pink one but my little girl (now 48) made it into a baby doll blanket and it is long gone now.

    WOW i adore vintage linens and your damask lovelies are to die for!!..i love the pastel colours and the designs are so intricate..very difficult to pick a fav they're all beautiful :)

    What a nice collection. They are all so pretty. I really like the shamrocks design. Now I'll be keeping my eye out for these linens the next time I hit a flea market. :)

    Beautiful collection! The blues are my favorite but your collection as a whole is exquisite. I just love old linens. They get so soft as they age and these have made me smile.

    Hey! I think damask is the little black dress of table dressings, agreeable to dressing up or down with just the slightest tweak of accessory, like the napkins in your collection or a placemat of one of those lovely handtowels. I enjoyed seeing what I'm sure is a sampling of your collection. Thank you for sharing!

    The designs on the towels are very attractive. They also look very soft from use and laundering. Great vintage items!
