The dining room in our 1980's small ranch-style home is basically a hallway that connects the kitchen to the rest of the house. We have a 7-foot narrow harvest table that sits in the center of the room, which we really enjoy. But, it doesn't leave any room on the side walls for furniture. I've really struggled with what to do with this long wall, but I'm finally satisfied with a gallery of pictures, plates, and small shelves.
They say (whoever THEY are?) that if you buy what you love then everything will go together. I love both the plates and the frames, so I just put them together.
My latest addition to this wall are the two Bavarian bird plates, one that I bought from ebay for $7 and the other from an estate sale for $3. Then, I found the two frames that are marked Germany at a junk store for $1 each.

Hi Sally! What a lovely collection of artwork on your wall. You've arranged them just perfectly too. I love your two new bird plates. They look handpainted too!

Sally - what a great idea of hanging the plates in the frames!! I really like that idea and might have to steal it from you!

Hi Sally...
My friend, I was just tickled to find your sweet note over at my place...it was so good hearing from you! Well my dear, it looks like you have been a busy little bee...I love the new gallery wall in your dining room! You did a marvelous job with the placement of all your beautiful art! Gallery walls are not always the easiest thing to do...but this really does look beautiful, my friend!!! Since your room is so narrow and you really don't have the room for furniture against that wall, I think that this is the perfect solution! Ohhh...and you have some gorgeous pieces showcased here! I love, love, LOVE the Bavarian bird plates...I really did drool when I seen them! Hehe! The pretty gold frames look perfect with the plates too! You did GOOD, Girlfriend!!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us...it's always a treat!
Well dear friend, I know that you said you enjoy winter but I am sooo longing for spring to get here! I guess it's the cold weather and my bones and muscles that don't mix well! I always feel so much better when it warms up. Ohhh...I'm sooo excited for you, Darlin'! Your trip to Europe will be here before you know it! I just know that you are going to have the best time ever!!! Has Bob changed his mind about going with you or is he still hoping to get to Panama? Your class reunion sounds like it will be a fun time as well! You are going to be a busy lady during the next few months...I couldn't be more happier for you, sweet friend!!!
I'll talk to you later...
Love ya,
Chari
Great gallery wall. I am working on another one now. Thanks for joining WUW again.
Sally, I like your gallery wall of pretty paintings. And placing those plates inside the frames made a very nice statement! I did that in a guest bedroom and always get a comment or two on how different it is. It's fun to be unique. *grin*
Hi Sally, this is a great idea for your long wall. The plates are just my cup of tea, and made even better with those wonderful frames! Thanks so much for linking up with VIF!
hugs,
Debra

What a gorgeous vignette! Juxtapostion at its very best.
I am having an antique auction on my blog. All sorts of lovely and romantic finds looking for a new home. I hope you'll stop by.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Great idea putting the plates inside the frames. I love turning walls into galleries of pictures and objects I find at thrift shops and antique stores. Pop over and visit me, I would love to hear from you. Have a wonderful day!
