LITTLE BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

A LITTLE BEAUTY!
Bob came home recently from an auction with this little school desk.
BEFORE
Some may think its chippy goodness is perfect, but that's rarely an option with Bob.  The fun for him is disassembling an item; and restoring everything back to working condition and restoring the wood back to an original finish.
The desk portion tilts and can be adjusted up and down.
AFTER
The drawer has a pencil tray, and the drawer pull has a patent date of March 25, 1910 on it.
Sometimes, I have a hard time giving up things that Bob restores. This is one of them, but it is off to the consignment store -- hopefully, someone will buy it that loves it as much as I do!

AND THE BEAST!
Bob found this in a barn cheap.  It was full of hay and mouse droppings.  After a thorough scrubbing and disassembling, he stripped the wood.
BEFORE
This thing is huge and heavy -- much bigger than the average cedar chest. The top hinges for lots of storage and would be perfect in a mudroom.  After Bob finished doing his thing, it turned out pretty neat.
AFTER
You never know if something like this will sell -- it takes just the right person with the right space.  It sold within two days!

Once again, our state is in mourning.  Please pray for the families of the victims of the horrific massacre at the movie theater in the Aurora suburb of Denver last night.

Hi Sally! OH, my that little desk is something else. I've never seen one like that before and your Bob is fantastic at restoring. The chest is pretty too, of course, minus the rat poo! :)

Both pieces are nicely done!

Had to call Sarah early this morning just to hear her voice after the horrible news.

More 100 degree days for us up here. Hope you are cooler.♥♫

Hi Sally, I love the school desk. I have an old one that I had in the play house of our previous home. It's being stored downstairs right now, but hope to have a place for it before too many years. The chest is beautiful. I can see why it sold so fast. My heart goes out to all of those who have anything to do with that horrible theater tragedy. I will be praying for all of them.
Hugs,
Jann

Bob did good ... that school house desk is stunning. Amazing ... I want that for my house though I have no idea where I could put it. Maybe as a side table in the living room ... if only I lived in Colorado!

Sally, Bob is obviously a miracle worker! I am so in love with that wonderful desk. The cedar chest turned out beautifully too, but the desk has stolen my heart. I have been praying for the people of Coloroda since I read the tragic news. laurie

Your husband does amazing work, my mouth dropped at the second transformation, WOW.
I couldn't believe the news when I woke up Friday morning. My daughter and her husband live in Aurora. I knew they wouldn't have been there for that showing and they weren't, but it is an awful reminder of how life is so precious.
I wish someone, somewhere could offer some insight on how our country can do SOMETHING about the number of shootings a year. The U.S. had 8,775 shootings in 2011, including suicides. We need solutions, not debate.
