DETAIL TOUR - LIVING ROOM

One of my favorite decorating book authors is Mary Carol Garrity of Nell Hill's fame.  I'm not sure how many books she has written -- I have seven different ones, but my favorite is probably "Feather Your Nest"(2007).  She writes about developing your own style with suggestions for building blocks to realize that personal sanctuary called home.  The sub title of the book is "It's All in the Details" suggesting that it's the details that bring your home to life and tell the story of those who live within!
Here are some of the details from our living room.

Do our details give clues of who we are?

I'm linking up with the following blogs -- check them out for lots of inspiration.

Your photos are stunning. I love the different things you captured in your room. So beautiful. I'd say you are well read, traveled and very elegant and friendly. How did I do? Thanks so much for joining Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty

Thanks for linking up with Sunday View this week. Details do tell a lot about us and what we value and care about. I agree with Marty, and would add that your details say that you are warm, inviting, and family-oriented. BTW: I saw a few of my own details in yours! :-)

Popped over from The Scoop...

I agree with the previous comments about who lives at your house, especially Marty's comments. I'd like to add I think you appreciate heritage and are a traditionalist decorator as a result. Warm natural wood tones, brown transfer ware, plaid fabric...

I think I need to read this book. I am waiting for Mary to come and decorate my home. /-)
Thank you so much for stopping by. No, I'm not in RF anymore. I work at the junior college now and really like it. It has been super busy and a huge learning curve. I went to a training and they said it is about a three year learning curve. I believe it. I hope you ate doing well. I am hoping we can all get together for a bloggers retreat sometime - at Mary's house. :-)

Sally, gorgeous details that reflect upon you. I knew there would be tartan plaid in there somewhere. Loving that clark cabinet. It's those little things that make a house a home! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
