MONSOON AUGUST

As I mentioned in my last post, August is monsoon season in Colorado.  Don't ask me why ---- Colorado is usually dry and arid in the summer, but every August the monsoons arrive for a short visit.  We have had rain every day for a week, and it continues.  We are currently under a flash flood warning as I'm writing this.
A break in the rain, so I went outside to take a few photos ---- mud and crud everywhere!
Large rain drops are beginning to fall again.
One last photo of a rose bud before I run back inside.
The other day, the sun came out long enough for me to take the quilt I just finished out for its official portrait.
I never mind an opportunity to stay in out of the wet weather.  It gives me an opportunity to do what I like best ---- quilting.
This traditional block is called Cactus Rose, and is not dependent on Colorado's fickle weather!

So beautiful, both your flowers and your quilt. I'm a gardener and a quilter-wanna-be. Oh and I love your picket fence too.

What a nice quilt you made! The colors are wonderful! We have been lucky enough to have a bit of rain too. We never take it for granted. August is usually hotter than this. Nice and mild in the low 90's high 80's. You mentioned the brown transferware.... Albuquerque turns out to be not a bad market. Who would have guessed?

Sally, I didn't realize that Colorado got Monsoons. Your quilt is beautiful and I love how you displayed it for it's official photo! :) Thanks for sharing with SYC.

Hi Sally. The weather this summer has been crazy! We've been so cool here it hasn't even seemed like summer. Well, coming from Texas and the heat, I haven't minded. I love your quilts! Gorgeous! Thank you, Sally, for always being my friend.
Be a sweetie,
