PACK RAT OR COLLECTOR??

Am I a pack rat or a collector?

A pack rat is defined as a rodent of the Rocky Mountain area. Well, my in laws may think of me as a rodent sometimes, and I do live in the Rocky Mountains.
A pack rat has well developed cheek pouches. Mine are pretty chubby!
A pack rat will drop what they are carrying, and exchange it for something else they see and want. That is definitely me in an antique mall.
A pack rat is particularly fond of shiny objects. I love my German lustre dishes.
They hoard miscellaneous & unneeded objects. Just how many different dishes does a person really need?

Now, a collector of objects is said to:
SEEK. I'm definitely out there looking.
LOCATE. There is no problem finding an object of desire.
ACQUIRE. It appears I buy plenty.
ORGANIZE. Well, I guess that is questionable.
CATALOG. Never, I don't want to know how many dishes I have!
DISPLAY: That I do.
STORE: Obviously.
MAINTAIN: I adore my dishes (isn't that maintenance?). Plus, if I ever need to have a sit down dinner for 120 people, I'm ready!!

So, what do you think? Am I a pack rat or a collector? (I purposely only opened the doors on just two of several cupboards holding my dishes. I didn't want to cloud your judgment of my obsession!!)

Thanks for stopping by,
Sally

What if something happened to all the other dishes in the world? Wouldn't someone have to stand up and replenish the dishes of the world. Pack rat or collector? No! You are the keeper of our way of life. Civilization rests on your shoulders. Please don't subject us to paper plates.

With objects as nice as those, you are a collector, no doubt about it.
My mom in law lives in Woodland Park. We love Colorado!

I had to scan down to make sure you were a member of Gollum's Dish Addict Award. You absolutely deserve it! You are definitely a collector! Of a most beautiful collection, of course! ~ Robyn

Well, I think you are a collector. Me, if someone put a dish in a mouse trap, I'd be caught in a heartbeat.

I have dishes stashed behind my drapery panels...that definitely puts me into the rodent category.

I look at that first photo and think, "Wow, she has 6 months of Pink Saturday material there!" Lucky you.

Definitely a collector. A pack rat holds on to things that have no value, financial or emotional, and doesn't display or share them.

Funny...well, I must recluse myself from making a decision. I think I may be swayed!!!

What beautiful collections and such wonderful storage for them! Definitely a collector! It's so nice to see another "collector"! I don't know what I'm going to do with all of my "collections". I've run out of room. Is there a "Collector's" Anonymous? Enjoyed seeing all of your lovely china. laurie

Pack rat and collector...there is a fine, gray line between the two, isn't there! ha-ha! I'd actually like to be a 'browser' and look through all that neat stuff you have!

I laughed when I read your statement about having enough dishes for a dinner with 120 people over for dinner! I love dishes too so I think you're a collector!

A collector, indeed.

I would certainly recognize a collector, since, as a collector, I just added to my "collection" today.

I admire your beautiful collection.

Wonderful post!
