AESTHETIC BROWN TRANSFERWARE

My favorite collectible has to be brown transferware from the 19th century aesthetic period. Finding pieces in my budget over the last 15 years has been a journey, but I have managed to amass a nice little collection. To receive a piece as a gift is a real bonus! My friend, Jan, also collects brown transferware and on her travels found this pedestal plate. She knew how much I fell in love with it, so she gave it to me for my birthday.

It has an incised mark on the bottom, but I can't make it out. I'm guessing that it is about 1880.

I love the Asian influence in the pattern, but the piece was probably made in England.

If anyone out there in blogland has any info on this piece, I would appreciate hearing from you. (All pictures can be clicked on to enlarge for a better look at the pattern.)

Thanks, Jan, for a wonderful addition to my collection.

Next week I'm joining the following parties:

A Stroll Thru Life for Tabletop Tuesday

Savvy Southern Style for Wow Us Wednesdays

French Country Cottage for Feathered Nest Friday

Common Ground for Vintage Inspiration Friday

Hi Sally! I love your new piece! You have the most wonderful pieces. I don't think I'd ever seen brown transferware til I met you in Blogland and now I know why - you've bought them all! :)
Be a sweetie,

Do love that brown Transferware. Mom gave me some salad plates that have a similar look but are not Transferward. I need to use them! Maybe when we get together next!

Thank you so much for your encouragement on that front room of mine Sally~ Yup you have seen the ugly part of it for sure!

If I had a week or even 3-4 days we could probably whip that puppy in shape but we seem to only have a few hours here and there and seldom a full day. Oh well, God knows and He certainly does seem to help the time we do have be very productive. It is also ladies from our mission that will be coming so I know they will be very understanding if things are not tip top by the time they are here. Actually they would have loved it just the way it was as they were at least able to get away for a few days. I just want to spoil them as much as possible and our surroundings has such a big part in that I think...at least for me it does.

Oops sorry for the being long worded!

Sally what a lovely gift!! Sorry I don't know much about transferware...just that I love it!! But I'll bet that time frame is right on. I'll get back to ya if I find out anything.
And in response to your comment, I bet you start to see them everywhere now *winks*. Vantines made a LOT of them but they're small and tend to get overlooked....which is good for me! Lol! Let me know if you find any. Vanna

Hi Sally....would you believe I am still stuck in Jersey....we actually had snow this morning....my old computer died so I got a new Apple Air but I am still not blogging...FIL died on March 9th....busy sorting out the mess he left...but I thought of you...we are have a big estate sale...daughter and me decided to do it ourselves instead of hiring someone...should be fun...any hints would be appreciated....we went to a few to see how they operate....very poorly I'm afraid...
made an appointment to speak to someone about running it for us and they never showed up....So we will reap the rewards and keep all the money for ourselves!! Then back to Georgia in a few months to go house hunting for a nice big house and back to blogging.....I miss it so much...
Hope all is well with you....Sue
