Cloche Party Time

It is time for Marty's annual Spring Cloche Party. Well, I'm reluctantly being pulled out of Winter mode (my favorite season). I know that I'm the only one in blogland not looking forward to Spring. So, this is about as close as I get to Spring decorating. For all of you Spring aficionados, gaze at these two plates next to my cloche for inspiration.
The plates were hand-painted by the noted Colorado china painter, Anna Peters, in the early 20th century. She was especially recognized for her rose renderings, so it is unusual to find a plate with columbines on it. However, the columbine is the Colorado state flower, which would probably explain it.
The cloche is covering a Murano glass egg that my son brought to me from Italy a couple of years ago. The wooden base is a piece that my Dad turned 30 years ago from a walnut tree that had been planted in the 1800s in the small town I grew up in. I've had that base all of these years just waiting for something special to display on it. It connects my Dad and my son, who is named after his grandfather. The pink marble lamp in the background was a wedding present to my parents in 1937. All are treasures I cherish.
Please check out Marty's blog, A Stroll Thru Life,
for some real Spring cloche inspiration.

I love those plates, Sally. As a wedding gift we received a handpainted plate. At that time there was a china painting society in our area. The woman who painted our plate was in that society.

Loved the egg under cloche!

Anna,
Yours was the first cloche listing that caught my eye. The story behind your display is heartwarming. Thank you for sharing today. I look forward to stopping by again, soon.
Fondly,

All very lovely pieces. I have several hand painted things with two painted by a great-grandmother of one of my first graders. Your wooden base is very unique and has such a sweet story with it. ♥♫

Mornin' Sally...

Ahhh...you are doing a marvelous job with spring, my friend! Hehe! Sorry, I really don't mean to make fun! I do believe you are the only one I know that is not looking forward to spring!

Ohhh Sally, your handpainted china plates are simply gorgeous! This is the first time that I have heard of Anna Peters! And...I love, love, LOVE that gorgeous pink marble lamp! I love how the pinks just "pop" in the plates since they are sitting in front of the pink marble...soo pretty! Sally, what a special treasure...your beautiful Murano glass egg! I remember when Mike brought that to you...what a thoughtful gift! Your son has great taste too! wink! And to think that your pretty glass egg fits just perfectly on this beautiful walnut wood stand that your father made! I love the sentiment, my friend! It looks fabulous under your cloche! Such sweet family treasures...thank you for sharing them with us today!

So glad that you stopped by for a visit yesterday, Sally!

Love ya, my friend!

Sally, You have a lovely tabletop vignette here. :-) The plates are beautiful- I love simple columbines. Your son's gift to you must really hold a special place in your heart. That egg looks just beautiful under the cloche on your dad's pedestal!
