NEW YEAR RESOLUTION #1 - ALREADY FORGOTTEN

Well, I haven't really made any New Year resolutions for years, but I do try to think about some things I need to accomplish in the new year.  I've been thinking that I REALLY do need to curb this 60-year old collecting habit I have, especially when it comes to dishes.  I'm just plain running out of room, and I've already purged leaving only the best and the ones I love the most.
BUT, yesterday we went to Colorado Springs.  After running errands and having lunch, we had some time to kill before the 'Home and Remodeling' show opened.  What to do?  Of course, we stopped at one of our favorite antique malls.
I walked down one aisle, and there they were -- two 19th century aesthetic movement soup bowls in brown transferware. I was prepared to walk away after admiring them, but then the price caught my eye -- "pair of bowls - $9.95".  That's way under the going price for one bowl, let alone two!!

I couldn't leave them there.  After I got home with them, I noticed they had the same rim pattern as this wonderful pedestal dish that a friend gave me.
They aren't the same inner pattern.
But, so typical of the aesthetic movement!
I just love them!!!  Guess my collecting days aren't over, yet.
I'm partying this week with the following.  Check them out for lots of inspiration.
Northern Cottage for Partytime Tuesday
A Stroll Thru Life for Table Top Tuesday
Coastal Charm for Nifty Thrifty Tuesday
Savvy Southern Style for Wow Us Wednesday
Common Ground for Vintage Inspiration Friday

Oh what fabulous dishes. I so agree, you really did need them and the price is totally unreal. Besides, it seems to me that brown transferware is next to impossible to find. Love that the rim matches the bowl. Thanks for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty

Discerning in collecting...that's what it is. Not just stopping. At least that is what I'm going to try!♥♫

How pretty! I love brown and white transferware and have a few pieces myself. I actually like that yours don't all match completely. I think they look more like a collection of different pieces gathered over time!

Isn't it fun to find dishes at such a great deal!? Looks like you have a great start to a new collection!

Hope your year is starting out wonderfully Sally! I've been a tad under the weather and trying to get the Christmas decor up has not been as successful as I would like it to be- I guess it will get done when it is supposed to!

I always look for brown transferware but don't have much luck. I want to hang some plates on a wall but only have a few. Guess I could mix with white....
Your pattern is so unique and pretty and the price you paid was VERY reasonable! :-) How fun to see that the rims matched on both patterns.

Your new dishes are great. And what a good price! I know what you mean about trying to curb the collecting, but it's so hard! Brown transferware is so appealing. Visiting from NTT. I'm your newest follower and I hope you can pop over to Cottage and Creek and follow back.

What a great find! Your bowls are beautiful. Brown and white transferware is so popular and I love the different, but similar looks of your collection.

Sally they're wonderful! For that price there's no way I could've walked away from them either! And like you I need to cull my collections. They're taking over my closets! And really once something is in a closet you really don't see and enjoy the items any more.
How fortutious that your new/old bowls compliment the pedestal bowl your friend gave you so nicely! It was meant to be *winks* Vanna
