NEWEST ACQUISITION

Things keep finding their way into our home.  Things I never knew I wanted -- things I never knew still existed!

The other day on his way back from visiting his 98-year-old mother, Bob stopped at an antique store in the town where we grew up.  This store is hardly ever open, but just happened to be this day.  On a shelf in the backroom was this old milk pail.  Nothing too exciting, EXCEPT that the name crudely painted on it was the name of my grandmother, Mrs. I. F. Haines!
Back in the day, we never had milk cows on the farm.  The farm/ranch was a large operation of beef cattle and sheep.  So, Grandma had to fetch her raw milk from a local dairy.  Thus, the milk pail with her name.
The dealer said that he had bought the pail at one of two different auctions that my Dad had held years ago.
They were so formal back then with her married name on a lowly milk pail.  She was always Mrs. Haines to everyone, but Grandma to me!

Sally,
I am so happy that the milk pail finally found it's way back home. Wonder if Grandma had a hand in it? Especially since the store isn't open often. Hubby did good! Thanks for sharing it with Share Your Cup.
Hugs,
Jann

Isn't that just so fun that Bob found your grandmother's milk pail!!!! Goodness the history your family has here Sally is just so awesome!! I will never find anything from my family around her for sure!

Working on getting the stores ready for christmas. Used a 6ft old ladder for a tree and it turned out so cute!!! Will have to try and get a picture to share on my blog- it's hard getting a great picture as it is in front of the window but my youngest son gave me some photo pointers so I am going to try this weekend to take one.

Have 4 parties booked again for the Christmas season so I need to get a move on decorating the house too!

What a mind blow, and how fun for you! Really small world. At least in your neighborhood! ;0) You and I like a few of the same things. I actually have two of those McCoy pots that you like. And I would buy more! I love the white, and they are so handy for things. An amaryllis would look great in one!
