This past weekend we spent a couple of days in Denver doing our favorite things -- going to estate sales and antique malls; and meeting our son for his birthday lunch. He grew up doing these things, and still loves going along to find some of the things that he collects. This weekend he found some maps, vintage math books, and Japanese ephemera. He is a high school math and science teacher, and loves to travel -- his favorite being Japan. Happy Birthday, Mike -- it was a fun day! I'm sure this year will be great for you with another excursion to Paris in May.
Bob and I also found a few things. Among them was this contraption:
Do you know what it is?
You can twist it to the right, or to the left.
It's a nutcracker!
Every household needs one, don't you think?
We found several things; which, I'm sure, will show up in future posts. It was a good couple of days!

My gosh- What a fun find. I have never seen anything like it! Who knew it would work!?! xo Diana
That is neat...never seen one before...great find...I LOVE estate sales!
Great find and what a conversation starter. I was surprised when you said what it is.
Did you find that awesome blue bowl on right of nut cracker? I'm a nut for old bowls especially so noticed it right away. We actually use our old bowls. I have them all on our baker's rack. I got most of my bowls in KY, don't find too many here in Grand Junction that are affordable. I'd so love to be able to go over to Denver for antiquing for about a week (in my dreams). There isn't much here to antique at. So glad you got to see your son and have a nice time.
I've seen these before at craft shows. Fun item for sure. Sounds like a great time with your son!
hugs, Linda
