WHAT'S ON YOUR WALL WEDNESDAY!!!

Barb at Grits and Glamour is hosting What's On Your Wall Wednesday, and I have decided to join in for the first time today. Please go check out her blog to find out the other participants in this fun activity.

For three generations my family was in the sheep ranching business on the prairies and mountains of Colorado. As a child, I remember being around the sheep pens and joining my Dad and Grandpa in the pickup doing sheep business. As I was not one to enjoy the outdoor life, it was never a fun activity for me. Nevertheless, I was fascinated by the sheep. As an adult after inheriting some of my great-grandmother's original sheep drawings and paintings, I started collecting sheep prints that were popular in the late 19th to early 20th century. Below are some of those that are on my walls.

I'll save some of the other prints, plus the original art for another day. Hope you enjoy a glimpse at my collection.

Thanks for stopping by,
Sally

Very nice collection. Some of the frames are just fabulous. The prints are nice, but I'm not really into sheep. But seeing your prints reminded me of a painting my parents had on their wall as I was growing up that had sheep in a pasture. So that brought back a good memory. Thanks for sharing.

You really do have some beautiful sheep pictures. My parents used to raise sheep in SW Oklahoma. Daddy would shear them and sell the wool. xo rachel

Mornin' Girlfriend!

Wow...you do have quite a collection of sheep wall art going...I just had to enlarge every one of them to check them out!!! Each one is so beautiful...but my favorite one is the 4th photo...that picture is awesome!!! I was also admiring the frame on it! I recently acquired some really old framed family photos...and have a frame very similar, in fact, the ornamental flowers are done the same way as on your frame!

Well my friend, I was just wondering how you're feeling? Hope that all of your Dr. appts. are going well...I've been praying!!!

Love ya,
Chari

Evening, Sally. Oh, what beautiful sheep paintings you have! My aunt had the one where the dog is howling and the little sheep is down. I used to look at this picture as a child and be so sad thinking the little lamb was dead. I never did know and don't til this day.

Looking at sheep reminds me of how well we are cared for by our Creator. (and we don't always make it easy on Him either!)
Love the colors used, and the feelings they inspire.

Hi Sally! I had to come over and see your sheep! You have a beautiful collection! and I think it's neat that you have a family history involved too in the sheep business.:) Look at us, posting about cows & sheep! lol. I have been in a mental fog lately and need some inspiration (or maybe I just need to do some shopping..lol!) But I loved your previous post - reading about the "C's" of your marriage sucess and that family bible. What a treasure! and that adorable picture of you & hubby going to the dance. Priceless!:) enjoy your weekend ~ Laurie
