We have this amazing sunflower growing in our vegetable garden that just keeps reaching for the sky. We don't know how it got there -- it is not in our regular sunflower patch that is on the other side of the yard; plus it is twice as big as those plants. Some bird must have done his magic and transplanted the seed last summer.
I had our rather tall granddaughter, Caitlin, stand by it so you could see just how magical it is!!
I have a blog anniversary coming up in a week or so. In the past, I haven't mentioned blog anniversaries; but five years seems rather momentous in the blog world.
My blog is rather simple -- no web designer, no sponsors, no branding consultant, no income -- just a disparate assembly of things, ideas, and people that are important to us and the way we live. What you see is what you get! I began blogging in July 2008 as a way to journal our lifestyle and document our ancestor's belongings for our kids, grandkids, and their descendants. (I'm not sure they will be interested down the line, but just in case!) I had no idea I had this much to say; and that I would still be blogging five years later. My posts are far from thought provoking or sometimes are not even well thought out; but I hope it comes through just how much I love God, my family, and my home!
We all blog for different reasons. My reason was strictly for my personal enjoyment; and I'm sure not always of public interest. I'm just not into 'growing my blog' or making money from it. I'm retired -- and tired of thinking about money, accomplishments, ambition, etc. etc. and all that accompanies those efforts. I've considered making my blog private, or a 'no comment' blog, or not joining in the blog parties held each week. But frankly, I've really enjoyed the interaction I've had with other bloggers -- something that was unexpected on my part. Thanks to all of you.
Will I continue to blog and for how long? I don't have a clue. As long as I enjoy it, and have something to say that I think my descendants would be interested in; I suppose I will.. And hopefully, whoever reads my blog will also find something interesting about our lifestyle and the people and things that inhabit our home.
So, for now, I'll continue to party on--

Good Afternoon Sally, Congratulations on five years of blogging. It is a wonderful achievement. I have been blogging for a year and I love that I have met (not in person) so many wonderful bloggers. My blog is not a swish blog, but I love it as I have created it myself which I never thought I could do.... but I did not give into my fear, I persevered and I am so pleased I did.
Here's to many more years of reading your lovely blog.
Have a lovely weekend,
Best Wishes
Daphne
When I was pulling weeds in my mom's garden I left a sunflower growing. Hope to see what IT does, IF my brother didn't kill it. He's the one close by and waters everything and does most of the work. Your grand daughter is the prettier of the two "flowers" in your garden! And, I'm glad you share your blog with us. Have a great weekend!♥♫
Congratulations....I am coming up on five years also. My little ole blog...and that is what it is going to stay....so I hope your's will too!!
Congratulations!!! That is indeed a milestone for sure. Hope you continue for at least 5 more and then some. Hugs, marty
Hi Sally and happy bloggaversary! I started blogging one month before you did! I don't know how I stumbled upon your blog but I'm so glad I did. I enjoy so much reading about your family pieces and your newly found antiques and I've learned a lot from you too. And besides, you're famous, you've written a book! :) The sunflower is lovely and your grand daughter is gorgeous!
Here's to many more years for blogging.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
That is a beautiful sunflower but even more beautiful is your sweet girl. Congrats on five years of blogging, too. That is a great accomplishment- xo Diana

I have one of those surprise sunflowers too but it is certainly of a smaller variety! My that is a big one.
Happy anniversary! :)
Congratulations on five years! My reasons for blogging are the same. Every time I think I might be done I realize how much I would miss it. There is such a vast number of blogs now there is no way I can keep up, but I have certainly appreciated and enjoyed our exchanges over my own last three years blogging. Carry on!
Well, Happy Blogiversary! I also began blogging in June, 2008, so we have that in common.
Your granddaughter is a beauty as is that sunflower. I think that everyone loves sunflowers.
That certainly is an amazing sunflower.
Happy blogversary!
Sunflowers inspire writing I have heard, Happy writing in the coming years! :)
Two beauties ~ Wonderful photography and you are, indeed, blessed ~ Happy Anniversary ~ ^_^
Aren't sunflowers great! I once had that happen - a giant sunflower grew without being planted or planned. It was wonderful.
Love that photo of flower and beautiful grandgirl...:)
I am so glad you started blogging...
I started in 2007 and not even sure how I got started. I read a few blogs for awhile and thought, "I can do that...and it can be fun"...I've never looked back. I love everything about blogging....
Hope the fires around you have settled down...I know it's still burning somewhere there in Colorado.
Happy 5th anniversary.....:)
Congrats on your blog and your sunflower! Love sunflowers and yours is beautiful! Stop over :)

Oh Sally, I hope that you continue to party because I adore your posts. We have very similar tastes and love seeing what you are up to. The sunflower is a real beauty, but your darling granddaughter stole the show! I have some really tall sunflowers out front that just popped up to. Thank you birdies! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
